The Indiana Fever look to pick up where they left off when they take on the injury-riddled Toronto Tempo on Friday, Sept. 18, as the WNBA season resumes.
The Fever won seven of their last nine matchups heading into the three-week break for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, which ended with Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Fever head coach Stephanie White helping Team USA win its fifth consecutive gold medal
in Berlin."The World Cup is a huge deal, so meant a lot," said Clark, who averaged 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds across six games. "Obviously I played in the World Cup qualifier, but getting to play the World Cup on that stage, there's really nothing like it. And then obviously my goals, the Olympics in 28."
Now it's time to turn the page
from international competition back to league play as teams jockey for playoff positioning in their final four games of the regular season.
"It was a nice little moment to take a step away for a second, but now you're back," Boston said on Thursday. "We just won gold, but now we're back to scouting each other and now we're back to competing because we want to win a WNBA championship."
The Fever (26-14) are currently fifth in the WNBA standings, just outside of the homecourt advantage awarded to the top four seed. If the playoffs started today, the Fever would face off against the No. 4 Atlanta Dream in the first round.
Here's what you need to know about the Fever's matchup against the Tempo, who have been eliminated from playoff contention.
