It will be some time before Kelly Ripa returns to "Live."
The longtime "Live with Kelly and Mark" cohost won't be back on her eponymous morning talk show with husband Mark Consuelos until after Labor Day, USA TODAY has learned.
A series of guest hosts – including Kevin Jonas, Mila Kunis and "The Rookie" star Jenna Dewan – have stepped in for Ripa, 55, as the actress recovers from gum graft surgery. The revolving list of guests will end on Friday, Aug. 7, before the show goes on its annual summer break. For the remainder of August, viewers will see new, prerecorded segments with Ripa and Consuelos combined with previous celebrity interviews.
Ripa will fully return to the live broadcast on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
'Live' following 'painful' surgery
Consuelos, her full-time cohost since 2023, previously told viewers that Ripa's surgery to restore her receding gum tissue was planned "about five years" in advance, adding that while she is "doing well," the recovery has been "painful."
"When she goes into the dentist, she doesn't really use the Novocain, but this one hurts," he said. "So I know it's bad."
Still, under her doctor's orders, she is "not allowed to talk."
