While the start of the high school football season feels like it was just here a week ago, we've hit the double digit mark when it comes to full weeks played and for some states, the postseason has arrived.
That means for a few teams ranked in this week's Super 25 rankings, they'll have the week off before essentially kicking off a new a season.
Numerous members of the Super 25 won't be on the field this week as No. 6 Bishop Gorman (NV), No. 7 IMG Academy (FL), No. 14 Thomas County Central (GA), No. 16 Brownsburg and No. 22 East St. Louis (IL) are all off. Here's a look at what Super 25 teams play this week and who they'll be playing.
1. Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. JSerra Catholic (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Will the Eagles give up more than 10 points in any other game
this season? With a 21-7 win over St. John Bosco, they've now had six straight games where they gave up seven points or less and are now only allowing an average of 5.5 points per game. That doesn't bode well for a JSerra Catholic side that just lost to Orange Lutheran 48-13.
2. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Flanagan (FL), 7 p.m. ET
The Raiders just put up a season-high 71 points in a win over Monarch (FL). Now they take on a Flanagan side that's 1-7 and has been outscored 116-316, giving up an average of 45.1 points per game.
3. Buford (GA)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Mill Creek (GA), 7:30 p.m. ET
Mill Creek started off the year with four straight losses but have since rattled off three consecutive wins. Now it'll play the team that's been the standard of high school football in Georgia over the last two seasons. Buford been at its best over the last three games, outscoring its opponents 149-7.
4. Allen (TX)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Dallas Jesuit (TX), 7 p.m. CT
It's been a long time since the Eagles have been tested this year as they've scored 50 or more points in six consecutive games. That doesn't bode well for Dallas Jesuit. The Rangers gave up 49 points in a win two weeks ago and 54 in a loss last week to Prosper (TX).
5. Columbus (Miami, FL)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Northwestern (FL), 7:30 p.m. ET
The Explorers established themselves as the undisputed kings of Miami last week with a dominant, 28-3 win over Miami Central (FL). Don't expect Northwestern to be a pushover though. The Bulls are 6-3 and enter this game off of a 30-16 win over South Dade (FL).
6. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV)
Does not play this week
7. IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
Does not play this week
8. North Crowley (Fort Worth, TX)
Thursday, Oct. 22, at Skyline (TX), 7:30 p.m. CT
North Crowley's been one of the most dominant teams in Texas this season. Skyline has lost four straight in blowout fashion. While the Panthers are averaging 43.9 points per game, the Raiders have yet to score 40 points in a game this season.
9. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Notre Dame (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Like Santa Margarita, scoring on the Trailblazers has been chore most teams this year. They've only had more than 10 points scored on them once and they've shutout their last three opponents. Notre Dame hasn't had many issues scoring this year but the Knights did just suffer their first loss of the year.
10. The St. James Academy (Springfield, VA)
Friday, Oct. 23, at St. Xavier (OH), 7 p.m. ET
Another week, another win for the Strivers who picked up a 69-3 victory last Friday. They hit the road this week, heading up to Cincinnati. St. Xavier has had its issues, but the Bombers have won back-to-back games, including a 28-21 win over St. Ignatius (OH) last week.
11. Carrollton (GA)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Westlake (GA), 7:30 p.m. ET
Winless Northgate (GA) posed no issues for the Trojans as Carrollton improved to 8-0 with a 62-13 win. Westlake, record-wise, is the best team the Trojans have played in some time. The Lions are 6-1 and played back-to-back one-score games, losing to Newton (GA) 40-38 on Oct. 2 and beating East Coweta (GA) 35-34 on Oct. 9.
12. Baylor (Chattanooga, TN)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Ensworth (TN), 7 p.m. CT
After a rare midseason showdown with an out-of-state opponent, the Red Raiders turn their attention back to region play. Ensworth has a homerun hitter in senior running back EJ Gibson, but the Tigers have struggled recently, losing three of their last four games.
13. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Servite (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Coming off of their worst offensive performance of the year, the Braves hit the road looking to get back to the form they had before hosting Santa Margarita. Servite's had its own struggles, losing three straight games, all in blowout fashion.
14. Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA)
Does not play this week
15. Hamilton (Chandler, AZ)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Liberty (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
The Huskies went on the road and in a game many expected to be close, they had no issues beating Pinnacle (AZ) 34-13. Things don't get any easier this week against another one of the state's best programs. Since losing by eight to Basha (AZ), Liberty's rolled in its last three games winning by 29 or more points.
16. Brownsburg (IN)
Does not play this week
17. De La Salle (Concord, CA)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. San Ramon Valley (CA), 7:15 p.m. PST
In a battle of unbeatens, De La Salle had no issues getting past Monte Vista (CA) 51-0. It'll face another unbeaten team in San Ramon Valley this week. This will be the first real test of the season for the Wolves, who won their first seven games by an average of 39.1 points.
18. Hough (Cornelius, NC)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Myers Park (NC), 7 p.m. ET
Make it four shutout wins in a row now for the Huskies as they breezed past South Mecklenburg (NC) 47-0. They've now outscored their last four opponents 208-0. That streak could be in jeopardy as Myers Park is a significant jump up in competition as the Mustangs are 6-2 and averaging 33 points per game.
19. North Shore (Houston, TX)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. King (TX), 7 p.m. CT
All of Houston will have its eyes on North Shore and King this Friday as two of the area's best square off. Both teams enter this game off of an open week, but both played drastically different games their last time on the field. King crushed Humble (TX) 70-6 while North Shore had to hold off Summer Creek (TX) 28-27.
20. Trinity (Louisville, KY)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Oldham County (KY), 7:30 p.m. ET
Can the Shamrocks make it six consecutive shutouts to close out the season? Last week they beat Eastern (KY) 38-0 and have now outscored their last six opponents 230-0. Oldham County (KY) has scored 28 points in back-to-back games.
21. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Orange Lutheran (CA), 7 p.m. PST
The Monarchs have bounced back nicely from their two losses to Bishop Gorman (NV) and Santa Margarita (CA) with back-to-back blowout wins. This week should be a stiffer challenge. Orange Lutheran is 5-3 on the year but the losses came by one to Miami Central (FL), 18 to Sierra Canyon (CA) and 14 to St. John Bosco (CA).
22. East St. Louis (IL)
Does not play this week
23. Waxahachie (TX)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Duncanville (TX), 7 p.m. CT
After their best defensive performance of the season, the Indians now get the chance for some revenge. They beat Duncanville in the regular season last year but saw their season come to an end to the Panthers in the postseason by a touchdown.
24. Bixby (OK)
Friday, Oct. 23, at Edmond North (OK), 7 p.m. CT
Since surviving a 13-6 scare to Jenks (OK), the Spartans have been on a roll, scoring 45 or more points in each of their last four wins. Now they take on an Edmond North team they crushed 64-7 last season.
25. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Aces Elite STEAM Academy (AZ), 7 p.m. ET
Following losses to The St. James Academy (VA) and The Hun School (NJ), the Panthers went from being the No. 1 team in the country to holding on for a top 25 spot. They'll look to get back on track this week with four games left on their schedule.
