Nearly 200,000 heated blankets and pads sold on Amazon have been recalled following burn reports.
JKMax has recalled 195,000 heating blankets and heating pads
after receiving 577 reports that the products may smoke, melt or burn because the heating element wire can overheat, according to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall report. As of Sept.17, JKMax was aware of 53 reports of burn injuries because of the blankets.If you're preparing to cozy up for the fall head, here's what to know about the heated blanket recall.
What heated blankets, pads are recalled?
JKMax has issued a recall for the following models of heating blankets and pads:
- JKMAX-002
- JKMAX-7284B
- JKMAX-6284B
- JKMAX-10090B
- JKMAX-8490B
- JKMAX-6284B
The polyester blankets and pads are blue, grey, brown or red, according to the CPSC report. The products were sold in multiple sizes and have
a detachable remote that can be used to adjust the heat. The blankets and pads are machine washable.
The model number is located on the back of the remote and printed on the white label secured to the product packaging, according to the CPSC report.
Where were the recalled heated blankets, pads sold?
The recalled products were sold on Amazon between September 2022 and July 2026 as a one-pack or two-pack.
