What a weekend.
The east coast still doesn’t have everyone on board – a number of New York schools kick off next weekend, for example – but we’ve already had no shortage of action, upsets and tight showings.
Here are USA TODAY Sports' Week 3 East Region Super 15 rankings.
1. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Record: 1-0
The Panthers were flirting with quite a defeat this weekend. What many expected to be an easy W for St. Frances turned into a tight battle, all locked up at 35-35 before they managed to pull away from what would have been a huge upset to DeLand (FL). The Panthers are a head-and-shoulders standout in the East region, so they’re staying on top, but they’ll have to have much better showings to be a legitimate contender for their highly anticipated IMG matchup at the end of
the season.

2. DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD)
Record: 1-0
Not too much fanfare for DeMatha this weekend, just a solid in-state showing against Archbishop Carroll with an expected 35-14 Stag victory. DeMatha looked a little shaky at points early, heading into the half up just 14-7, but they pulled away for a convincing win.
Next game: Saturday, Sept. 5, at Imhotep Charter (PA), 7 p.m. ET
3. Hough (Cornelius, NC)
Record: 2-0
Hough steadied themselves this weekend after a less-than-perfect showing against Northwestern (SC) last weekend. A decisive, 35-10 victory over a strong Cardinal Gibbons (NC) team pulled them back on track, ready to line up against Providence Day (NC) this Friday.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, vs. Providence Day (NC), 7 p.m. ET
4. Grimsley (Greensboro, NC)
Record: 2-0
Grimsley grabbed another blowout win in their 39-3 victory over West Forsyth last weekend. Neither of their opponents thus far have been too intense of competition, but that doesn’t take away from the Whirlies’ solid performances. Next up for them will be East Forsyth, as they look to keep stacking wins early.

5. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ)
Record: 1-0
Don Bosco put up a great showing against Armwood (FL), grabbing a 38-14 victory to solidify their spot in the top five of this week’s Super 15.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, at Roman Catholic (PA), 7 p.m. ET
6. Providence Day (Charlotte, NC)
Record: 2-0
The Chargers grabbed a dominant, 34-0 win over a Rolesville squad expected to be a strong North Carolina force this year. It was a quick lead-in for probably the biggest game on Providence Day’s schedule this year, slated for Friday: a showdown with national powerhouse Hough.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, at Hough (NC), 7 p.m. ET
7. St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, NJ)
Record: 0-1
St. Joseph Regional found themselves on the wrong side of the most talked about game of the weekend. After going up 30-0 early and looking primed to absolutely blowout a struggling Mount Carmel team, the Green Knights completely hit a wall. Mount Carmel was suddenly the one with the momentum and the picture-perfect TDs, staying within striking distance before taking and holding onto the lead in the fourth quarter to finish 48-44. A tough blow.
Next game: Saturday, Sept. 5, vs. Creekside (GA), 1 p.m. ET
8. St. James Academy (Springfield, VA)
Record: 1-0
The Strivers ran up a 66-0 victory over a struggling Lehi (UT) team this weekend without much (any) friction. They’ll run into Paramus Catholic this upcoming Friday, for maybe a bit more of a test.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, at Paramus Catholic (NJ), 7 p.m. ET
9. St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia, PA)
Record: 0-0
The Hawks will open this weekend with quite the blockbuster against Brentwood Academy.

10. Central Catholic (Pittsburgh, PA)
Record: 1-0
The Vikings find themselves higher up this week, notching a solid, 45-30 win against fellow Super 15 team Bergen Catholic. They led from start to finish, headlined by an incredible, three-TD performance by three-star ATH Chrys Black.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, at Woodland Hills (PA), 7 p.m. ET
11. Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, PA)
Record: 0-1
It was somewhat hard not to expect Roman Catholic’s loss to St. John Bosco, but it definitely still stung for the Cahillites. After a rough season opener, the road ahead doesn’t get much easier: they’ll be facing east region foes Don Bosco Prep and DeMatha the next two weeks, with some great opportunities to force upsets.

12. Bergen Catholic (Oradell, NJ)
Record: 0-1
A loss to Central Catholic drops the Crusaders a few slots. They looked a bit messy in that matchup, where they never managed to grab the lead, and will be hoping to get back on the right track this Friday.
Next game: Friday, Sept. 4, at Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD), 7 p.m. ET
13. St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, NJ)
Record: 1-0
A solid, 17-7 win against Dillard (FL) opened a predictably strong season for the Marauders. They'll be sitting out this week.
Next game: Idle
14. Archbishop Spalding (Severn, MD)
Record: 0-1
The Cavaliers fell 35-14 to DeMatha, but they did give the best team in their state quite a run for its money for a little while. After a pretty neck and neck first half, Archbishop Spalding headed into halftime down only 14-7, but just couldn’t escape DeMatha’s second-half escalation.
Next game: Saturday, Sept. 5, vs. St. John’s (DC), 7:30 p.m. ET
15. Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury, MA)
Record: 0-0
Starting the long path to a MIAA Division 2 state title defense, the Knights are returning a strong pack of key players, including three-star running back Christian Simmons and four-star Kennedy Hurte-Jones on the defensive line.
Next game: Tuesday, Sept. 1, vs. Everett (MA), 5 p.m. ET
