NEW YORK − An explosion inside a Bronx apartment building left one person with serious injuries, New York City fire officials said.
Just before 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, FDNY received a call for an explosion inside a five-story building on East 209th Street between Decatur Avenue and Parkside Place, in the Bronx’s Norwood neighborhood, the agency said in an email. Officials said they found flames on the building’s second and third floors. The blaze is currently classified as a three-alarm fire.
First-responders transported one person with serious injuries to a local hospital, FDNY said. The fire response is ongoing, and it's unclear what caused the explosion and fire.

NYPD didn’t immediately have information on the incident.
