Falcons vs Bears expert picks
Adam Kaufman: Bears 27, Falcons 24
Let's put an asterisk on this one before we do anything else. I'm assuming Caleb Williams and Michael Penix Jr. both play. Change the quarterbacks and we'll revisit the score. Chicago's offense badly needs Williams after that seven-point showing in Green Bay. Ben Johnson should have a much more enjoyable afternoon calling plays with his starter back. Atlanta has the equalizer in Bijan Robinson, and I expect him to give a vulnerable Bears defense plenty of problems. Drake London should have opportunities, too. This feels like a game neither defense completely controls. Give me Williams to make one more play late, but this is among my least confident picks until the practice reports
provide some clarity.
Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz: Bears 31, Falcons 24
A Bears offense running on fumes might finally have its engine back in Caleb Williams. If the quarterback is able to make his return from a hamstring injury, Chicago should have a much rosier outlook after unraveling against the Packers. The Falcons' hopes also hinge on the status of their starting quarterback, as Michael Penix Jr. is dealing with a rib injury that leaves his availability unclear. If he does play, Atlanta could unleash another barrage of big plays against a defense that couldn't keep the downfield passing game contained last week.
Nicholas Brinkerhoff: Bears 27, Falcons 20
The battle between two broken quarterback rooms. It looks like Caleb Williams will make his triumphant return in Week 6, just as Michael Penix Jr. exits for the Falcons. Penix's primetime watch has ended and might've taken Atlanta's chance of winning with it. Bijan Robinson might be magical, but he'd have to pull off quite the Houdini act to knock off the Bears if Williams is back to full strength. Chicago bounces back in the ATL.
