Some massive in-state matchups and a few out-of-state showdowns headline this week's slate of high school football games featuring USA TODAY Sports Super 25 teams.
Several members of the Super 25 won't be on the field this week as No. 4 Buford (GA), No. 6 Allen (TX), No. 9 Bishop Gorman (NV), No. 10 Carrollton (GA), No. 13 Waxahachie (TX), No. 15 Hamilton (AZ), No. 16 North Crowley (TX), and No. 21 Hough (NC) are all off..
Here's a look at where the remaining Super 25 teams will play this week and who they'll be playing.
1. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Chaminade-Madonna (FL), 6:30 p.m. ET
The Raiders have been dominant but did get a test from Columbus (FL) a few weeks back. Can
the Lions do the same? Brady Quinn has Chaminade-Madonna off to a 4-1 start and has yet to throw an interception.
2. IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
Saturday, Oct. 3, vs. The St. James Academy (VA), 7 p.m. ET
Aside from their first half against The First Academy (FL), the Ascenders have not been tested this season. The same can be said for The St. James Academy, which is 5-0, averaging 58.8 points per game and winning by an average of 53.4 points.
3. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Legacy School of Sport Sciences (TX), 7 p.m. CT
After a week off, the Panthers return and take on a Titans side that has yet to find the win column in 2026. Legacy is coming into this game off of a 56-7 loss to IMG Academy and has been outscored 152-68 this season.
5. Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Mater Dei (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Since beating Centennial (CA) by one back August, no one has come close to testing the Eagles. They've outscored their last three opponents 130-7 but will be tested by Mater Dei. The Monarchs should come into this game rested after being off last week.
7. Columbus (Miami, FL)
Thursday, Oct. 1, vs. Southwest (FL), 6 p.m. ET
In the three weeks since the loss to St. Thomas Aquinas, the Explorers have been dominant, winning by an average of 41 points per game. That trend could continue into this week. Southwest just lost to Palmetto (FL) 72-0 and has been outscored 168-14 over its four-game losing streak.
8. Thompson (Alabaster, AL)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Hoover (AL), 7 p.m. CT
Not many teams have been more of a thorn in the Warriors' side over the last two years than Hoover. The Buccaneers have won back-to-back against the Warriors but suffered a demoralizing last-second loss last week. Alabama quarterback commit Trent Seaborn has been nearly perfect this year, throwing for nearly 1,500 yards with 20 touchdowns and no interceptions.
11. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. JSerra Catholic (CA), 7 p.m. PST
St. John Bosco was off last week but enters this week riding a four-game win streak. JSerra Catholic is in the same boat. The Lions opened the season with a loss to Sierra Canyon, had last week off and enter this week winners of four consecutive games.
12. Baylor (Chattanooga, TN)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. McCallie (TN), 7:30 p.m. ET
It's rivalry week for the Red Raiders as they host McCallie in one of Tennessee's biggest rivalry games. Tennessee running back commit David Gabriel Georges rushed for nearly 1,000 yards in the two games they played last season. After three straight wins to start the year, the Blue Tornado have lost three consecutive games, two by double figures.
14. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Loyola (CA), 7 p.m. PST
The Trailblazers have yet to play a game this season where they didn't win by 17 or more points. Last year they had no issues with Loyola, winning that game on the road 52-3. This year the Cubs are 3-2 and had momentum with a three-game win streak but suffered their second loss of the year to Cathedral (CA) last week.
17. North Shore (TX)
Thursday, Oct. 1, at Humble (TX), 7 p.m. CT
The Mustangs will be looking to make it three straight shutouts as they host a Wildcats team looking for anything. Humble started off the year 1-1 but has since suffered three straight losses in blowout fashion.
18. Thomas County (GA)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Veterans (GA), 7:30 p.m. ET
Much like last year's game, the Yellow Jackets were expected to possibly be tested by Lee County (GA) and instead rolled to a 49-26 win. Veterans is vastly improved this year with a 4-1 record, improving from last year's two-win season. They're looking to avenge a 48-0 loss to Thomas County from last season.
19. Brownsburg (IN)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Zionsville (IN), 7 p.m. ET
The Bulldogs passed the one game left on their schedule that many expected to be a challenge by crushing Westfield (IN) 38-14. Don't expect Zionsville to be a pushover though. The Eagles are 5-1, winning three of those five games by double digits.
20. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Santa Margarita (CA), 7 p.m. PST
After a week off from their first loss of the year to Bishop Gorman (NV), the Monarchs now get their shot at the top team in California. It's also a chance to avenge last year's 7-6 loss to the Eagles.
22. Massillon (OH)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. Farrell (PA), 7 p.m. ET
In a unique matchup, the Tigers cruised to a 31-8 win over a secondary school of out Canada last week. They return to action this week against a Farrell side that had been unbeaten until last week. They suffered their first loss of the season to Ursuline (OH), 24-13.
23. De La Salle (Concord, CA)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Cathedral Catholic (CA), 7 p.m. PST
In California's loaded high school football season, De La Salle had been flying fairly under-the-radar. They're not anymore after beating Centennial (CA) 35-32 last week. Cathedral Catholic enters this matchup on a three-game win streak after starting the year with back-to-back losses.
24. Trinity (Louisville, KY)
Friday, Oct. 2, vs. St. Xavier (OH), 7 p.m. ET
For the second week in a row, the Shamrocks will play a St. Xavier. Last week they cruised against their hated in-state rival, winning 44-0. This week they'll play St. Xavier out of Cincinnati that's 3-3 on the year but did just beat previously unbeaten Elder (OH) 31-29.
25. Grimsley (Greensboro, NC)
Friday, Oct. 2, at Varina (VA), 7:30 p.m. ET
The Whirlies' 36-game winning streak could be on the line this week. This is the second year in a row they've played the Blue Devils and last year's game was a 21-14 win for Grimsley at home. Varina is a weather-induced tie away from also having a perfect record this season.
