The biggest day of the Little League World Serieshas arrived.
It will be Japan taking on Ohio in the day's first game with a chance to claim third place. This is hardly a consolation prize, when you consider the 20 teams that came to Williamsport to compete. With just four teams left standing, both squads have done their regions proud.
Ohio, representing the Great Lakes, took on Nevada, hailing from the Mountain region, to battle for a spot in the Little League World Series championship game. With deft fielding and hot hitting, Nevada moved on with a 12-2 win on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Japan’s path to the International Championship was anything but easy. After suffering a 6-0 defeat to Curaçao on Aug. 21, the Japanese squad regrouped and fought its
way through four consecutive elimination games. In the end, Japan came up just short on Saturday, 4-0.
USA TODAY Sports will have live updates, scores and highlights from the day's action.
