The Pennsylvania primary elections have long passed, and Election Day is just a little more than a month away.
Pennsylvania voters will decide the fate of the gubernatorial race between incumbent Democrat Josh Shapiro and Republican candidate Stacy Garrity. Voters across the commonwealth will also vote in 17 congressional races, including the race between U.S. Sen. Summer Lee, the Democrat representing the Pittsburgh area and parts of Westmoreland County, and business executive James Hayes, as well as the match between U.S. Sen. Chris Deluzio, the Democrat representing Beaver County and parts of Allegheny, and Beaver County Sheriff Tony Guy.
As you get ready to vote in Allegheny County, here are the key things to know before Election Day.
When is 2026 Election Day?
The 2026
midterm election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
When's the deadline to register to vote in Allegheny midterm election 2026?
The voter registration deadline for the 2026 midterms in Pennsylvania is Monday, Oct. 19.
When is 2026 early voting in Allegheny County?
Voters with absentee or mail-in ballots can mail in their ballots ahead of the election, or drop their ballots off at satellite election offices on select dates between Wednesday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 25, according to the county. Any Allegheny voter can vote at any satellite location. There will be additional ballot-only return locations open from Friday, Oct. 30 through Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Do I need an ID to vote in Allegheny County?
If you're voting for the first time at a polling location in Allegheny County, you'll need to show proof of identification.
Valid forms of photo ID, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State, include:
- Pennsylvania driver’s license or PennDOT ID card
- ID issued by any Commonwealth agency
- ID issued by the U.S. Government
- U.S. passport
- U.S. Armed Forces ID
- Student ID (including an electronic/digital student ID card)
- Employee ID
If you don't have a photo ID, you can use another document as long as it has your name and address on it. These documents include:
- Confirmation issued by the county voter registration office, such as a voter registration card
- Non-photo ID issued by the Commonwealth
- Non-photo ID issued by the U.S. Government
- Firearm permit
- Current utility bill
- Current bank statement
- Paycheck
- Government check
When are mail-in and absentee ballots due in Allegheny County?
Mail-in and absentee ballots are due to the county by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.
When's the deadline to register for mail-in voting in Allegheny County?
The deadline to apply for a 2026 midterm election mail-in ballot in Allegheny County is Tuesday, Oct. 27.
If you have an emergency, like an unexpected illness or disability, you can apply for an emergency absentee ballot after 5 p.m. on Oct. 27. The application form is available online on the Pennsylvania Department of State's website and can be submitted to Allegheny County Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day, the same time regular absentee ballots are also due.
