DALLAS — One of the best rivalries in all of sports returns when Oklahoma and Texas face off in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday, Oct. 10, from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
The No. 1 Longhorns (4-0, 1-0 SEC) and Sooners (2-2, 0-1) are on opposite trajectories, with Texas looking like a national championship contender and Oklahoma a disappointment so far. Anything is impossible when the Golden Hat is on the line, though, as history has shown in the series.
Offense might be hard to come by when both teams visit the State Fair of Texas, as Oklahoma and Texas both boast elite defenses. Oklahoma ranks No. 5 nationally in total defense allowing 238 yards
per game, while Texas ranks No. 22 nationally allowing 271 yards per game.
The Sooners' struggling offense hasn't scored a touchdown against Texas since 2023, when former quarterback Dillon Gabriel led a game-winning scoring drive in the final seconds. Fifth-year Oklahoma coach is 1-3 against the Longhorns during his tenure, while Texas coach Steve Sarkisian looks to lead Texas to a 3-game win streak in the rivalry for the first time since 1997-99.
