The "Star Wars" saga's epic duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker continues – at the auction house.
The lightsaber wielded by Darth Vader in his battles with Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" (1983) is going up for bid Nov. 12 as part of The Ultimate Star Wars Auction, to be held by Heritage Auctions.
Expect an out-of-this-world going price. At a previous auction, held in September 2025 by the auction house Propstore, that exact lightsaber used by the late David Prowse – and Olympic fencer/stunt performer Bob Anderson – sold for $3.65 million.
That figure has since been topped by the lightsaber used by Mark Hamill
in "The Empire Strikes Back," which fetched $3,750,000 on July 15, 2026, in a sale conducted by Heritage Auctions. That lightsaber, which also came with a cast of Hamill's hand (remember, Vader severed it with a swipe of his saber), set a record for the auction price of a screen-used Star Wars prop, according to the auction house.
These price tags have been impressive, most impressive, but which lightsaber ends up the master of millions remains to be seen. Bidding on the Vader lightsaber starts at $1 million.
'Star Wars' lightsabers galore up for bid
Is The Force with that Darth Vader lightsaber too strong for your wallet? Also up for bid is Boba Fett's blaster from "The Empire Strikes Back," which has a starting bid of $100,000.
Other lightsabers being auctioned off include several used by Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) in "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith," with starting bids ranging from $8,000 to $30,000; lightsabers used by Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) in the three prequel films, starting at $8,000 to $10,000, and one used by Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) in "The Last Jedi," starting at $10,000.
Other "Star Wars" items being sold: A personal third-draft screenplay for the original "Star Wars," signed by Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), starting at $20,000.
And there's a collection of 69 signed Star Wars Funko Pop! vinyl figures, starting at $2,500, with authenticated signatures from Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, Ewan McGregor, Adam Driver, Diego Kuna, Pedro Pascal, Oscar Isaac, Rosario Dawson, Andy Serkis and more.
Other Star Wars props have sold for millions, too. Han Solo's blaster, used by Harrison Ford in the original "Star Wars," since renamed "Star Wars: A New Hope," sold for $1.05 million in August 2022, setting a record for the most expensive prop gun sold at auction, according to Guinness World Records.
Heritage Auctions previously sold a Red Leader X-wing fighter filming miniature for $3.15 million in 2023, and auction house Profiles in History sold a full-sized R2-D2 used in several movies for nearly $2.8 million in 2017, CNBC reported.
