Mother Nature couldn't stop several marquee college football matchups from taking place in Week 6, with multiple showdowns across the South living up to the hype.
There was, however, a shakeup in both the
US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 from the Week 6 results.
Top-ranked Georgia proved the big winner in Week 6, beating Alabama 20-17 in Tuscaloosa in a controversial game in which Gunner Stockton threw for 249 yards and a touchdown. The Bulldogs sealed the top-10 win in Tuscaloosa with a 23-yard field goal with 5:25 left in the fourth quarter, in addition to a trio of no-called penalties from the officiating crew, including a defensive pass interference against Georgia down the stretch.
Arch Manning and No. 1 Texas dropped the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma, resulting in its spot as the top-ranked team in the country being lost. Manning threw one of two second-half interceptions at the end of the game that set up an eventual walk-off field goal from the Sooners.
In the Big Ten, Dylan Raiola was benched — as Dante Moore remained sidelined with his concussion from a Week 4 hit to the head against USC — as No. 13 Oregon was upset by No. 22 UCLA. Indiana staved off an upset on the road at Nebraska, while Southern California spoiled Penn State's "White Out" with a 31-23 win in Happy Valley.
