Yelp released its annual list of best new restaurants of 2026, and they're not just in New York City or other foodie destinations around the country.
These restaurants might actually be in your backyard.
Included on the list are restaurants such as 1587 Prime in Missouri, Dorothy’s Downtown in Florida and Piedra in Indiana.
To come up with the list, which ranked the top restaurants that opened after Jan. 1, 2025, Yelp used data such as total review volume and ratings, a passing health score and help from Tara Lewis, a Yelp trend expert.
The ranking does not leave out major cities. Firstborn, a prix fixe Asian-fusion in Los Angeles, and Limusina, a Mexican restaurant in Manhattan, made the list.
Yelp showcased some hidden gems, like The Farmhouse
Tuscan in Alexandria, Virginia, with farm-to-table foods and Gianni & Mac’s Ristorante in Marietta, Georgia, with handmade pasta.
And there were some big newsmakers, such as a steakhouse co-founded by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in Kansas City and a California spot that earned a Michelin star within its first two months of opening.
Yelp releases several lists throughout the year, like the best pizza and taco spots. Perhaps one of the most sought-after roundups is the yearly top 100 restaurants in the U.S., which is usually published at the end of January.

While areas like New York City and New Orleans are considered some of the best food spots in the country, the best new restaurant isn't even in a major city. Filthy Animal, a jungle-themed restaurant with meals cooked on an open fire pit, is in Tempe, Arizona.
