Kelly Clarkson is embracing artificial intelligence, but she wants human musicians to have their own place on the charts.
The "Stronger" powerhouse discussed her enthusiasm for the technology during the Sept. 30 episode of "Las Culturistas," hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. "Controversial, I don't care: I love AI," Clarkson said. "There are very amazing things with AI that I am obsessed with."
She went on to explain that she uses AI "artistically" herself but clarified that she draws the line when AI is pitted against human capabilities.
Earlier in the conversation, Clarkson jokingly called ChatGPT "my lover" and described using the tool to communicate landscaping ideas while she was away from her property.
Rather than spending time drawing
detailed plans, she explained, she could use an image to show others the changes she wanted.
"It's a designer's dream," she said.

Kelly Clarkson wants separate charts for AI music
During the podcast's "I Don't Think So Honey" segment, which gives participants a minute to deliver a rant, Clarkson argued that music created with AI should compete separately from human performers.
"When you see AI artists competing on a chart with humans, I have an issue," Clarkson explained. "I think there should be a separate chart. I think it's welcome. I think it's welcome to the table. I think it's really cool and creative what we're going to create with AI and musically and people that maybe can't do certain things will be able to do it now."
Listeners criticized Kelly Clarkson's AI comments
Her remarks have drawn criticism from some listeners.
In a Reddit discussion about the episode, one listener said they stopped listening after Clarkson praised AI for design work. Others questioned her enthusiasm, while some commenters pushed back on the reaction's intensity.
Reddit user @r/lasculturistas posted on the platform and expressed their dismay with Clarkson's view.

"It is a great, dark reminder that these people we all glorify for their talent and creativity are still sucked in to AI," the Reddit user wrote. "Sorry this is incredibly dramatic but I was looking forward to this ep and have loved Kelly for years, but this not what I want to listen to as I was actively getting ready to go my job as a graphic designer. Like yeah! It's actually my nightmare!"
Another upset fan took to X to vent about the online moment. "I love Kelly Clarkson, but like girl – you like it until it affects you and your business. What about all the other industries it's impacting? And the harm on our environment?" wrote the X user @OliviaJRoweee.
