The Chicago Bears are thinning out in the quarterback room.
Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent has entered concussion protocol, according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport. That leaves third string quarterback Case Keenum as Chicago's potential starter come Week 3 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
Caleb Williams exited the Week 2 game vs. the Minnesota Vikings with a non-contact hamstring injury, but reports indicate that the ailment may not be so severe as to keep the team's franchise passer out long-term.
Williams, though, will likely miss the upcoming matchup vs. the Eagles as he recovers.
It's unclear when Bagent was injured, but the passer was slammed hard to the turf on the final play of the Bears' 9-3 loss to Minnesota in Week 2.
Keenum last played
in the NFL in 2023, playing in two games for the Houston Texans. He has some familiarity with the NFC North, having played with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017 when he was the quarterback of the famed "Minneapolis Miracle" playoff game.

Caleb Williams injury update
Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that Williams is being considered week-to-week when he met with reporters on Monday, Sept. 21.
The head coach added that the team will see where he's at as the week progresses. Johnson noted that the report on Williams' injury was encouraging and he would leave it there.
When asked about practice availability, Johnson said he didn't believe Williams would practice ahead of Week 3. Despite being on track for no practice time, the coach wouldn't rule out his star quarterback.
"[Williams] is right now working through every avenue that he's got available to get back on track," Johnson said. "This guy is a little bit different than the average human being. I said that last night, I'll double down on that. He gets back, in the past, a lot faster than what people can anticipate and so I'm not putting a timeline on this."
