Sydney Sweeney's blonde bombshell aesthetic just might be hereditary.
The "Euphoria" actress and the late Marilyn Monroe are distant relatives, according to a new MyHeritage study shared with USA TODAY.
The genealogy research site notes the actresses are ninth cousins, once removed, meaning that there is a one-generation gap between them.

The Hollywood darlings share the common ancestors Ezra Perry and Elizabeth Burgess, 17th-century British settlers in Massachusetts, through Sweeney's father, Steven Sweeney, and Monroe's biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford, according to the online genealogy company.
The Perry-Burgess lineage also includes former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
"People have always drawn parallels
between Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe, but seeing their paths align on a deeper level inspired us to look for a real bond in the MyHeritage archives," MyHeritage Director of Research Roi Mandel said in a release. "Uncovering their shared branch was incredible, it's a powerful reminder that humanity is one vast family tree, and when we dig deep, we uncover how remarkably interconnected we all are."

MyHeritage notes Perry served as a local militia lieutenant and town public officer, while Burgess was in one of the founding families of the first permanent English settlement in New England.
The Sweeney-Monroe connection is nothing new. Fans have long compared the "Anyone But You" star to the 1950s sex symbol who died in 1962, and Sweeney has drawn inspiration from her distant cousin. She recently channeled the "Some Like It Hot" star at the premiere of "The Housemaid" in December.

Sweeney's stylist, Molly Dickson, confirmed that her Santa Barbara Film Festival red-carpet look in February was inspired by Monroe's iconic 1952 Life magazine cover.
Sweeney has not commented on the comparisons. In a WSJ. Magazine cover story in August, when asked about being styled as an "old Hollywood bombshell," Sweeney simply said, "I think I just connect to history."
