Unclear if additional day hikers are missing in Grand Canyon

Devastating flooding at the Grand Canyon has left at least two people dead and at least one person unaccounted for, according to the National Park Service.

Park officials said on Aug. 31 that more than 82 people had been evacuated and at least one person was confirmed to be missing after significant flash flooding swept through parts of the Grand Canyon. The park’s chief ranger said it’s unclear if there were additional day hikers missing. The Canyon as a whole remains open for visitors with partial closures and restrictions.
