Helen Mirren's a big Taylor Sheridan fan.
The 81-year-old British actress recalled the visit to the TV producer, writer and creator's Texas ranch before signing on to star in "Yellowstone's" prequel series "1923," calling the experience "quite an adventure for me."
"I’d never been anywhere like that and had hardly ever been to Texas," Mirren said of the property, in an interview with Town & Country. "It was quite a culture shock for a foreigner to land in that heartland."

Mirren said she also got the chance to get a read on Sheridan, who offered to write her character to match her personality, on the trip.
"The first thing you notice with Taylor is he’s very honest. The second
thing: “He does not have the hands of a writer. He has the hands of a rancher," she said.
Mirren starred alongside Harrison Ford for the entirety of the series, which ran for two seasons on Paramount+ The pair played married couple Jacob and Cara Dutton from 2022 through 2025.
"1923" followed the Dutton family’s patriarch and matriarch as they endured the challenges of the early 20th century, according People.
Taylor Sheridan's got 'courage,' Morgan Freeman says

Mirren isn't the only star praising Taylor Sheridan.
Morgan Freeman, who stars in Sheridan's Paramount+ series "Lioness" as Secretary of State Edwin Millins, spoke highly of Sheridan's artistic prowess in an August interview with The New York Times, telling the outlet that his writing "has to do more with the human experience, what people are actually going through, emotionally, in a lot of cases."
"You saw that a lot in 'Yellowstone,' and you actually see it a lot in any of his writings. And here, in 'Lioness,' in Zoe’s [Saldaña’s character] case, for instance, he is dealing with a woman whose life is on the line very often. She has kids and a husband. She makes decisions and she has to consider these," Freeman said.
"It takes courage to write about stuff like that, and Taylor seems to have an awful lot of it," Freeman added.
