The Golden State Valkyries won the WNBA championship on Saturday, Oct. 31 in San Francisco, California, taking victory in a winner-take-all Game 7 against the Atlanta Dream.
It was the first title for the Valkyries in just their two years’ of existence as a franchise.
But according to online sportsbooks, Natalie Nakase’s team is not the favorite to repeat as champions.
According to odds for the 2027 WNBA Finals posted on Sunday, Nov. 1, the Minnesota Lynx are the betting favorite to win next season’s championship. The Valkyries have the fourth-best odds, while the Las Vegas Aces are second and the Dream are third.
The Minnesota Lynx were the best team in the regular season this past year with unanimous Rookie of the Year Olivia Miles leading the way,
but were swept in the opening round of the playoffs by the New York Liberty. While Miles is returning to the Lynx, a lot can change for Minnesota this offseason with former Defensive Player of the Year Napheesa Collier set to hit free agency.
The Liberty are tied for the fifth-best championship odds with the Indiana Fever, who are set to return all-stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, but are looking for a new general manager as Kesley Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham are about to become free agents.
Four teams are tied with having the worst championship odds, with the Seattle Storm, Chicago Sky, Toronto Tempo and Houston Comets at the bottom.
