Brentford is cooperating with police to investigate a fan who kicked a rugby ball from a nearby rooftop toward its stadium during Saturday's match with Liverpool.
In a video posted online, a fan can be seen booting a rugby ball toward Gtech Community Stadium from the roof of a nearby building.
"Brentford Football Club is aware of an incident involving an item being kicked from a height towards the field of play during Saturday’s match against Liverpool," the club said in a statement on Monday, Oct. 19. "Such behavior is dangerous and potentially very harmful.
"The matter has been referred to the police and the club is supporting the relevant authorities in their investigation to help identify those responsible and take appropriate action, which
may result in criminal prosecution.
"The matchday safety of fans, staff, players and officials is of utmost importance, and the club will support all efforts to ensure action is taken."
It isn't clear where the ball landed, but other footage showed a Brentford staff member carrying the ball off the pitch while the game continued.
Liverpool won the match 2-1 after second-half goals from Victor Muñoz and Alexander Isak.
