Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has been approved to move to a halfway house in Austin, Texas, next year.
ABC News reported on Sept. 23 that, through an update from the Department of Justice's Victim Notification System, Holmes is scheduled to be placed in the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle, Texas, on Aug. 23, 2027.
Holmes was convicted in 2022 of defrauding Theranos investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars by making false claims about the blood-testing company's technology, finances and business relationships.
She was originally sentenced to 135 months — or 11 years and three months — in federal prison.
Holmes is currently being held at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, a minimum-security federal prison camp, and was scheduled
to be released on Feb. 22, 2030.
Minimum-security facilities typically house nonviolent, first-time offenders or those who have worked their way down from a higher-security prison due to good behavior, USA TODAY previously reported, citing a prison consultant.

On Sept. 6, A24 revealed a previously unannounced film featuring the Theranos founder titled "You Can See Everything."
The project was made in secret and is set to be released in theaters in October, according to previous USA TODAY reporting.
From comedian Nathan Fielder and "Primetime" director Lance Oppenheim, the documentary picks up weeks before Holmes went to prison in 2023 on fraud charges.
"Thirty-four days before she's sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move," the synopsis reads. "What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss."
