The prevailing theme of new streaming movies this weekend? A-listers in existential crises!
Hugh Jackman harnesses a Wolverine-esque rage playing the darkest version of the legendary archer ever – and one who has to pay for all his various sins – in "The Death of Robin Hood" on HBO Max. Then there's Chris Evans, Captain America himself, as an action movie hero who needs to save humanity by hurling his body into a volcano in "Sacrifice," now on Netflix. Plus, Margaret Qualley charts a globetrotting quest for romance and redemption in "Love of Your Live" on Amazon Prime, while Adam
Scott has a crime to solve and a witch to avoid in the haunted hotel tale "Hokum" on Hulu.
Here are 10 new and notable movies you can stream right now:
'Animals'

Ben Affleck directs and stars in the intense thriller as LA mayoral candidate Mark Kimball, whose son is kidnapped and held for a $7 million ransom. The politico's house becomes home to moral and emotional turmoil as an enigmatic fixer (Gillian Anderson) is hired and Mark and wife Abby (Kerry Washington) air out all their grievances.

'The Death of Robin Hood'

The dark thriller lets Hugh Jackman take the title outlaw on an extremely brutal journey that twists the legend: Instead of heroic feats, he actually spent decades killing folks for the thrill of it. Hunted by vengeful foes, a wounded Robin is given sanctuary and nursed back to health by a nun (Jodie Comer) tragically affected by his violent past.
Where to watch: HBO Max
'Disclosure Day'

When it comes to aliens on screen, Steven Spielberg is pretty much king. In the sci-fi thriller, a TV meteorologist (Emily Blunt) and a whistleblower (Josh O'Connor) get embroiled in an 80-year government cover-up of alien existence. Chases ensue and weird extraterrestrial stuff abounds on the way to a thought-provoking climax.
Where to watch: Peacock
'Dracula'
Count Dracula has gone through many cinematic incarnations since Bela Lugosi in 1931. In Luc Besson's horror action romance, Caleb Landry Jones plays Drac from gore-soaked war prince to 400-year-old wizened creeper to a pretty dapper guy in a top hat, all while trying to give his dead true love new life.
Where to watch: Paramount+
'Hallowarrior'

Halloween nerds finally have their own "Home Alone"! In the post-apocalyptic horror flick, Pumpkin (Milly Shapiro) survived a global pandemic and still loves spooky season, though this holiday gets rather stressful when the enigmatic Thalia (Shannyn Sossamon) and her mangey minions attack Pumpkin's home.
Where to watch: Shudder
'Hokum'

Damian McCarthy's supernatural scare fest stars Adam Scott as prickly author Ohm Bauman, who ventures to Ireland to scatter his parents’ ashes near a remote hotel where they honeymooned. Warned of a witch that haunts the honeymoon suite, the embattled writer navigates all manner of creepiness trying to solve a murder.
Where to watch: Hulu
'Love of Your Life'

The romantic drama stars Margaret Qualley as a Boston nurse who marries her true love (Gabriel Basso). But his death during the early days of COVID leads her to bolt for Europe, where she meets an attractive Londoner (Aaron Pierre) and must face ghosting her BFF (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and her mother-in-law (Catherine Keener).
Where to watch: Prime Video
'Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald'

This is less a documentary about beloved comedian Norm Macdonald and more a celebration of his deadpan delivery and canon of hilarious jokes. Judd Apatow's movie deep-dives into Macdonald as a button-pushing "Weekend Update" anchor on "SNL," a rabble-rousing firebrand and an unreliable narrator of his own life story.
Where to watch: Netflix
'Sacrifice'

The action-adventure satire stars Chris Evans as a movie star already wondering about his unstable career and future when he's taken hostage at a climate change charity gala by a doomsday cult. He starts vibing with their leader (Anya Taylor-Joy), even after she tells him he's got to throw himself into an active volcano to save the world.
Where to watch: Netflix
'Tenzing'

Tom Hiddleston stars but plays second fiddle in this surprisingly rousing biopic. Genden Phuntsok is actually the headliner here as Himalayan climber Tenzing Norgay, whose scaling of Mount Everest in 1953 with famed New Zealand explorer Edmund Hillary (Hiddleston) was the peak of a scrappy, heartfelt underdog story.
