Georgia's governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms announced the team that will help her transition into office, and it includes filmmaker and media executive Tyler Perry.
Bottoms announced Perry would be on her transition team, called "Georgia's Promise," at a news conferenceon Nov. 6. She called Perry an "entertainment mogul" who is also "a huge philanthropic part of our Georgia community and owns Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta."
The former Atlanta mayor previously worked with Perry. Bottoms made her first foray into showbiz as an executive producer on his Netflix political comedy "She the People." Later renamed "Miss Governor," the show premiered in May 2025 and was canceled after its first season.

"THANK YOU to everyone who has tuned in and made
'She The People' the hit show we knew it would be," she said in a May 2025 Instagram post. "I was encouraged by some very well meaning people not to join as an Executive Producer of this project. But I have learned that intuition is a super power and sometimes what makes sense to you, just isn’t meant for others to understand."

Who else will serve on Bottoms' transition committee?
The announcement comes as Perry is embroiled in controversy over multiple sexual assault allegations. Two actors who previously worked under Perry filed lawsuits seeking $77 million and $260 million in damages, accusing their former boss of coercion, unwanted advances and retaliation. Perry has denied the allegations, calling one of the lawsuits a "shakedown" and "money grab."
The writer-director will serve as co-chair on Bottoms' transition committee alongside Home Depot founder Arthur Blank, Delta Air Lines executive Richard Cox, Carter Center board chair Jason Carter, former state Rep. Jane Kidd, among others. Former City of Atlanta chief operating officer John King will be the transition committee's chief operating officer.
"I've spoken with Governor Kemp; we had a very good conversation. He has offered to provide whatever resources and support that he can to make this a smooth and orderly transition," Bottoms said.
Bottoms, 56, is an attorney who served as an Atlanta City Council member, magistrate judge and prosecutor before serving as Atlanta's mayor from 2018 to 2022. She later was a senior adviser in the Biden administration. Her victory Tuesday made her Georgia’s first Black and first woman governor and ended Republicans' 24-year gubernatorial reign in the state.
