Three brothers, including two former luxury real estate brokers who catered to wealthy and celebrity clients, were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for what prosecutors described as a yearslong sex trafficking scheme that targeted women through deception, drugs and violence.
Twins Oren and Alon Alexander and their older brother, Tal Alexander, were sentenced on Oct. 27 by U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni in Manhattan, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern
District of New York. Earlier this year, they were convicted of multiple federal sex crimes, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.
Prosecutors said the three brothers spent more than a decade using their wealth, social status and professional connections to lure women to parties, trips and private gatherings where some were drugged and sexually assaulted.
"The defendants preyed on women and young girls, using drugs and violence to incapacitate them so they could rape them," U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said in a statement. "The defendants did this for years—inflicting unspeakable harm on so many young women. And, for years, the defendants used their careers and social status to conceal the danger they posed."
The case drew national attention because of the brothers’ high-profile backgrounds. Oren and Tal Alexander co-founded the luxury real estate brokerage Official and led the Alexander Team, which boasted of brokering sales worth more than $7 billion in luxury markets including New York, South Florida, and Aspen, Colorado. Alon Alexander worked as an executive at a private security company.
The three brothers, who primarily resided in New York and Miami, Florida, were arrested in December 2024 and had remained jailed at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center while awaiting trial and sentencing.
Prosecutors described Alexander brothers' pattern of abuse
A federal jury convicted the brothers on March 9 following a six-week trial that included testimony from 11 women, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said the brothers worked together from at least 2008 through 2021 to recruit women through social media, dating apps, personal contacts and party promoters. The women were then enticed with promises of luxury travel, accommodations and exclusive experiences.
According to court records and trial evidence, the brothers used their wealth, social status and professional connections to "create and facilitate opportunities to sexually assault women."
Prosecutors said many encounters took place at parties, vacations and private events. More than 70 women said they were assaulted by one or more of the brothers in locations including Manhattan, the Hamptons on New York's Long Island, and Aspen, Colorado, according to prosecutors.
Some victims' drinks were secretly drugged with substances that impaired their ability to resist or escape, prosecutors said. The drugs caused symptoms including memory loss, impaired speech and limited movement.
In one instance, prosecutors said three girls were celebrating their senior year in high school at an Aspen nightclub in 2017 when the brothers drugged them, persuaded them to go to their five-star hotel for a promised after party, and then assaulted them.
What were the Alexander brothers convicted of?
Alon Alexander, 39, was convicted of participating in the sex trafficking conspiracy, sex trafficking and enticement involving one victim, sex trafficking of a minor victim, and sexual abuse and aggravated sexual abuse offenses involving another victim, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Oren Alexander, 39, was convicted of participating in the conspiracy, sex trafficking and enticement involving one victim, sexual abuse offenses involving another victim, and sexual exploitation of a minor victim, prosecutors said.
Tal Alexander, 40, was convicted of participating in the conspiracy and multiple sex trafficking and enticement offenses involving several victims, including a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Each brother also received 10 years of supervised release following his prison term, prosecutors said.
At sentencing, federal prosecutors sought life prison terms for all three brothers, while defense attorneys asked the court to impose the mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years. The brothers maintained their innocence throughout the proceedings and were represented by separate legal teams.
Oren Alexander's attorneys included Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, who previously represented rapper and music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs at his sex trafficking trial. Combs is serving a four-year prison sentence after being convicted on prostitution charges, but acquitted of the more serious sex trafficking charges he faced that could have landed him in prison for life.
