Thousands of cases of tofu have been recalled in dozens of states over possible chemical contamination.
According to a recent report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, some pre-cooked tofu distributed by hodo has been recalled because they could be contaminated with ink.
The affected products were sent to 29 states across the country and have use by dates through November.
The recall, which was initiated on Aug. 7, applies to more than 10,000 cases of tofu.
USA TODAY has reached out to hodo for comment.
Which tofu products have been recalled?
More than 10,000 cases of hodo's Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu have been recalled. The affected products have a net weight of 8 ounces and are kept refrigerated.
The products have a UPC code of
850565007842, according to the FDA report.
The affected products have best if used by dates spanning from May to November. The full list of products that may still be lingering in fridges is below:
- Lot code 260423 with use by date 08/22/2026
- Lot code 260521 with use by date 09/19/2026
- Lot code 260611 with use by date 10/10/2026
- Lot code 260625 with use by date 10/24/2026
- Lot code 260709 with use by date 11/07/2026
