Outfielder Scott Bandura's first games in Major League Baseball this week included a reunion with the player who made him part of Little League World Series history.
When Bandura was in the lineup for the San Francisco Giants in their 10-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, Sept. 16
, so was Mo'ne Davis. The first girl to throw a shutout at the Little League World Series in 2014 wanted to be there for the catcher who was behind the plate during her memorable run through Williamsport, Pennsylvania.Bandura and Davis are longtime friends and teammates, even now with Davis playing for the Los Angeles Queens of the Women's Professional Baseball League. Davis was able to attend Bandura's game in St. Louis because the inaugural championship
for the WPBL begins Wednesday in Springfield, Illinois.
“This has always been his dream, to be in the bigs,” Davis said, according to MLB.com. “So for me to come watch him play is pretty cool.”
Bandura's father, Steve, first started coaching Davis in several sports when she was seven years old, and eventually coached the Taney Dragons Little League World Series team a dozen years ago. Davis later lived at Bandura's home for five years when her family moved to New Jersey from the Philadelphia area.

Davis went on to play softball at Hampton, while Scott Bandura played baseball at Princeton and became a 7th-round pick for the Giants in 2023. He began this year with the franchise's AA affiliate in Richmond, Virginia before being promoted to AAA in Sacramento early in the season.
Bandura was called up by the Giants on Sept. 13 after the team placed star Rafael Devers on the injured list and made his MLB debut that day.
He was in the lineup as San Francisco's right fielder when the team faced the Cardinals again during an afternoon game on Sept. 16. He has two hits in his first eight MLB plate appearances.
