The viral romance scheme involving a man accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player to scam millions is touching down at Netflix.
The streamer announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14, that it will drop a documentary about the alleged scam, centering on Daejon Labrayae Love, as part of its "Untold" series, which unravels some of the most infamous and talked-about moments in sports.
Love, 35, was arrested in late August after being accused of pretending to be a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers NFL team as well as a wealthy Swiss real estate investor to defraud at least 26 women across several states – California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington – out of more than $1.3 million.
He has been charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Here's what we know about the upcoming documentary coming to Netflix.
Love utilized social media to keep up his image, authorities say
Love had allegedly carried out the scheme since 2022 with the help of 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan, who acted as his financial advisor, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY Sports. Federal officials say Love met his victims through dating apps and made the women believe they were in a "sincere" romantic relationship with him.
"Love had romantic relationships with many of the victims and told them he wanted to build wealth and a future together," officials stated. "Love advertised nonexistent investment vehicles and claimed these investments would generate massive returns for both him and his victims."

When a victim could ask questions or no longer provide any money, "Love blocked communication with them, but kept their money," federal officials added.
Love maintained the act of being a professional athlete living a luxurious lifestyle through his social media profiles. He used several aliases, including Jordan Love, Jon Love and Avril Lyto Love.
The scam made waves on social media, gaining the attention of celebrities and even 49ers staffers.
When can I watch 'Untold: Wide Deceiver'?
Netflix has not given an official release date for "Untold: Wide Deceiver," but did give some insight into what viewers can expect.
'Untold: Wide Deceiver' will feature Love's victims
"Told firsthand by Love’s victims, 'Untold: Wide Deceiver' will unpack the internet nickname and the far darker story it exposed," the streamer stated.
In the news release for Love's arrest, federal officials said that only 26 victims were identified, but they believe there are more to be determined.
