“Dancing with the Stars” is bringing the songs of the Super Bowl to the ballroom.
ABC’s reality dance competition revealed Wednesday, Sept. 30 that it will honor the music and spectacle of the NFL's biggest
game with a special “Super Bowl Night,” airing Tuesday, Oct. 13 (8 p.m. ET/PT).
The remaining 11 couples will take the dance floor to songs featured in some of the most iconic Super Bowl performances through the years, from Prince’s legendary2007 halftime show to Beyoncé’s 2013 spectacle.
Not surprisingly, there’s corporate synergy at work. Disney owns ABC, which airs "DWTS," and ESPN, which will televise Super Bowl LXI from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Feb. 14.
“Super Bowl Night” joins the list of previously announced theme nights this season, including“Mariah Carey Night,”“Dedication Night,” “Horror Movie Night,” “Disney Night” and “Grammy Night.”
Season 35, which kicked off on Sept. 14, has been an exciting one. So far, Giada De Laurentiis and pro Alan Bersten, Conner Leavitt and pro Adele Zaikman, and Sarah Jane Nader and pro Hailey Bills have been eliminated from the competition. During last night's Yacht Rock Night, another shocking elimination unfolded with musician Taylor Hanson getting the boot alongside pro partner Britt Stewart.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, simulcasting on ABC and Disney+ in local time zones and streaming the next day on Hulu.
Like football, the show unfolds before a live, frequently crazed audience. However, there's no tackling in ballroom dancing.
