WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said his administration will pay $1 million to anyone who reports voter fraud in United States elections that results in an arrest or conviction ‒ his latest financial offer to Americans before the midterms.
Trump announced the plan in an Oct. 26 post on Truth Social before discussing it with reporters.
"I'm also going to be issuing a $1 million bonus or reward, or whatever you want to call it, for anybody that reports voter fraud, leading to the arrest and conviction of somebody," Trump said, before boarding Air Force One to travel to Corinth, Mississippi, to hold a campaign rally.
Trump has a long history of leveling baseless claims of voter fraud, particularly involving mail-in voting, and he's worked to sow
distrust in the U.S. voting system before the Nov. 3 midterm election. Trump tried unsuccessfully to overturn his 2020 election loss by pushing unsubstantiated voter-fraud claims that were rejected in court.
Trump's social media post said the offer applies to voter fraud found in "past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election."
Trump did not say whether he plans to use government funds or his personal resources to pay for the rewards.
Last week, Trump rolled out a new program offering payments to tipsters who help uncover fraud in government programs. The president said whistleblowers who uncover fraud will receive a 1% "commission" on the amount of money recovered, with "no limit" on how much someone can collect.
Ahead of the midterms, Trump has also sent $500 rebate checks to about 1 million Americans he said were overcharged through the Affordable Care Act's federal exchange for buying health insurance, and $90 to 21 million seniors by diverting funds from a Medicare improvement fund.
Trump has also promised $5,000 dividend checks to all American adults if Republicans win control of Congress ‒ an extraordinary offer that even some of his allies criticized as bribery for votes.
