Football action in Texas kicks off this week with a pair of teams that opened the season with a win and one led by one of the nation's top running back prospects.

kicked off his senior season with one of the best rushing performances in the country. Westfield, on the other hand, was stout against the run it's season-opening game.Now those two will collide in a massive Thursday night showdown to open Week 2 action.

- In a rematch of last year's Class 5A Division II championship against South Oak Cliff, Randle got its revenge, beating the Golden Bears 20-14.
- Texas five-star running back commit Landen Williams-Callis inched closer to the 10,000-yard mark in the win, rushing for 230 yards and two touchdowns.
- Defensively, the Lions were stout in the win, limiting South Oak Cliff to 145 total yards of offense. The Golden Bears only completed six of their 22 pass attempts in the game.
Westfield football: What to know
- Westfield scored 16 points between the second and third quarter to open the season with a 16-10 home win over Heights (TX).
- While they struggled to pass in the win (46 yards, two interceptions), the ground game saved the Bulldogs. Zekedrick Love and Demonte Ford rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown.
- Randle's rushing attack should provide more of a challenge for Westfield. Heights ran for 27 yards on 26 attempts in their Week 1 meeting.
