About a month after various content creators urged customers to dip a McDonald’s cheeseburger into carbonated beverages, a similar hack involving two more popular McDonald's menu items has emerged.
Kierra Jonae, a Texas-based content creator, ruffled more than a few feathers when she shared how she eats a McDonald's double cheeseburger in a Sept. 21 TikTok.
"What y'all know about putting that cookie on your double cheeseburger?" Jonae says in the clip, as she opens up her double cheeseburger to show viewers the chocolate chip cookie nestled between both buns. "Y'all don't know game. For real."
Jonae's "food hack" has garnered significant attention across social platforms, including a few responses from McDonald's in recent days.
"I stopped asking
questions atp [at this point]," McDonald's commented under Jonae's TikTok. Another commenter wrote: "(this) got me mcmad omg."
'Cookie McDouble' has people divided
A fan-made menu hack called the "Cookie McDouble" is going viral. A Double Cheeseburger (no mustard, ketchup or onions - and hopefully no pickles) with a chocolate chip cookie below the two beef patties.

While the initial reaction to what has been dubbed the "Cookie McDouble" was more akin to disgust and general disapproval, more and more customers have started to report that the unlikely combination wasn't so terrible, or that they were game to try it out.
"I cannot be the only one who saw this sweet and savory concoction pop up on their FYP," food-focused content creator Morgan Chomps said in her Sept. 23 review. "It's honestly not that bad. The texture of the cookie gets a little lost in everything else going on, and it does take a minute for your brain to register. But if anything, the cookie doesn't really add a flavor; it just adds some sweetness."
Others have admitted to putting cookies inside McDoubles for years, and that the trend wasn't new, at least to them.
According to McDonald's Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin, the "Cookie McDouble" hack has been popular with fans for a while, with many videos of the food hack appearing in 2020, amid the rise of TikTok.
Huin added: "It's the first time it is going so widely viral, though. McDonald's commented on some of the videos."
Before 'Cookie McDouble,' there was dipping cheeseburgers in Coke or Sprite
Weeks before the "Cookie McDouble" began making the rounds on social media, another trend involving McDonald's cheeseburgers and soda pop, including Coca-Cola and Sprite, also sparked curiosity and drew ire online.
From content creators to everyday customers, several people, including USA TODAY reporter Saleen Martin, recreated the wet and unexpected pairing and shared their reactions.
"I am a little nervous. I don't expect to like it, but we're gonna try," Martin said, moments before dipping her cheeseburgers in Coca-Cola and Sprite. "It's just wet. And cold. And then I can feel, like I can feel, the fizziness in the burger. I don't like that."
Martin did not, as she suspected, like the taste of the Sprite with the burger more: "Still hate it. Just nasty and cold and soggy. I don't like it."
While some content creators said the trend dated back to their "high school days," or claimed they did it because the "cheeseburgers are so dry," others, like Martin, weren't impressed and were downright disgusted by the concoction.
On the other hand, TikToker @JoeOhEats, who expressed some apprehension about the taste, was ultimately blown away by the combination, saying it "kind of elevates the flavor, kind of elevates the taste of everything."
"It lowkey works,” he continued. "It’s like a combination of sweet and salty. The cheese inside of the cheeseburger kind of enhances it. You taste more of the cheese."
