Several concert workers were injured during an incident after Ed Sheeran's performance in Detroit over the weekend, according to authorities.
Six people were hurt following the British pop star's show at Ford Field on Saturday, Aug. 29. Sheeran performed a nearly three-hour concert to a packed house.
"Last night, during load-out following the concert at Ford Field, an incident in the stadium's vehicle tunnel resulted in injuries to six workers, including a member of our Ford Field team," the venue said in a statement on Sunday, Aug. 30. "All six were transported to area hospitals."
The Detroit Fire Department responded to the scene and provided triage support due to multiple injuries, according to the department. At the time of transport, two patients
were in serious condition, and four were in stable condition.
None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
USA TODAY has reached out to Sheeran's representatives for comment.
Following the incident, Ford Field is conducting a "full review and is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and with the event's production partners," the venue said in its statement.
"Out of respect for the people involved and the integrity of that review, we will not speculate on the cause," the venue added. "We are grateful to the Detroit Fire Department and EMS for their rapid response."
Sheeran kicked off his Loop Tour in January in New Zealand. The Grammy-winning singer has since played a spate of shows across Australia, Latin America and the United States. The global trek is currently set to wrap on Dec. 12 with a pair of back-to-back concerts in Mexico City.
USA TODAY music critic Melissa Ruggieri said the tour, while a bit less grandiose than his three-year The Mathematics Tour, still boasts an imposing production with a stately curved screen, multihued lasers, creative video imagery, pyro and an intermittently extended bridge.
"A stadium stage can be a lonely island for a solo star armed with only a guitar, keyboard and looping pedals, but Sheeran, 35, creates a tsunami of sound," Ruggieri wrote. "He also excels at creating an intimate environment, even in a sprawling sports palace that often sounded like an echo chamber."
