How the mighty have fallen.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys were figured to be the two frontrunners in the NFC East this season, with some even considering the duo as Super Bowl contenders. Just six weeks into the season, both teams are closer to booking vacations than they are preparing for a February trip to Los Angeles.
Injuries did a number on the Eagles, claiming Saquon Barkley and many more. Recently, Jalen Hurts was added to that list. The quarterback is done for the year with blood clots.
As for Dallas, it's still the defense. And it always has been. In recent weeks, though, the Cowboys offense has become a major problem as well. That isn't a winning combination for Brian Schottenheimer, who has seen his job security come into
question lately.
Both teams are desperate for a win, but at least the Eagles have a built-in excuse. Dallas will try to right the ship, but can they do it in a hostile Philadelphia environment?

Eagles Keys To Victory
Stay in the fight. For all intents and purposes, the Eagles season is over after it was revealed Jalen Hurts would miss the remainder of the campaign with blood clots. Injuries have mounted, but there is still talent on this Philadelphia roster. And with the way Dallas is playing, the Eagles just have to stick around long enough to let the Cowboys beat themselves. That leaky defense and anemic offense will give the home team plenty of opportunities to win. The Eagles just have to take them.
Cowboys Keys To Victory
Show up. On paper, Dallas should run away with this game against an offense that can't possibly keep up. However, the Cowboys looked disinterested in Week 6 and have looked that way for quite some time. This is the perfect get-right spot against a division rival. If the Cowboys don't beat themselves, they'll win the game.
Injuries to watch
Eagles
• RB Saquon Barkley • OL Landon Dickerson • DL Jordan Davis • LB Nolan Smith • LB Jaylx Hunt
Cowboys
• WR KaVontae Turpin • LB DeMarvion Overshown • LB Dee Winters
Eagles vs Cowboys USA TODAY expert picks
Nicholas Brinkerhoff: Eagles 23, Cowboys 17
The Eagles are injured. The Cowboys are lifeless. One of them has to win. How's that for a promo? Dallas is clearly the more talented team on paper, but something stinks about this group, and it's hard to pinpoint where the smell is coming from. The defense isn't competitive. The offense appears to be going through the motions. After a rough week for the Eagles, they should be motivated to stop the bleeding and get back in the win column. And what better way to do that than against a hated rival? Even if it's only for a moment, the home team finally gives the fans a reason to smile.
Adam Kaufman: Cowboys 24, Eagles 20
Not sure how many times I'm going to put myself in position to be let down by the Cowboys this season, but here we are again. With Jalen Hurts out for the season, the Eagles need Tanner McKee to stabilize an offense that was already having problems. Dallas' vulnerable defense – to put it kindly – gives him an opportunity, especially if Philadelphia can establish the run. On the other side, Dak Prescott's offense has been largely absent each of the last two weeks. But the superior talent undeniably belongs to the Cowboys and, if they can protect the ball, I like them to bounce back in a pivotal division matchup.
