Week 9 of the NFL season kicks off with a Thursday Night Football showdown as the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to M&T Bank Stadium to face the Baltimore Ravens.
The Jaguars come into the matchup riding a wave of momentum, having rebounded from a loss to the Houston Texans in Week 7 with a 42-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence returned to form, throwing for three touchdowns and over 200 yards, while the defense limited the Colts’ offense to just one score.
The Ravens, meanwhile, are facing significant adversity as they enter Week 9 on a three-game losing streak, most recently falling 36-10 to the Buffalo Bills. The team’s struggles have been compounded by the loss of star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who suffered
a right thumb injury after jamming it on the arm of Buffalo pass rusher Greg Rousseau. Jackson is scheduled for surgery and will be placed on injured reserve.
The Ravens’ injury troubles don’t end with Jackson.
Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley was forced to exit the Bills game with a toe injury, leaving third-stringer Joe Fagnano to finish the game. Fagnano is now in line to start against the Jaguars.
