MILWAUKEE β For the first time since 2018, the Milwaukee Brewers have a postseason win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Brewers took Game 1 of their National League Championship Series rematch on Sunday, Oct. 11, beating the Dodgers 2-1 on Luis Laraβs RBI single in the fifth inning and handing Tarik Skubal only his second loss in eight postseason starts.
While thereβs still a lot of baseball to be played, Milwaukee has to be happy with a better start against the Dodgers, who swept the Brewers in last yearβs NLCS and the 2020 wild-card round.
Game 2 is Monday, Oct. 12, in Milwaukee.
Much had been made of this matchup between the Brewers young ace Jacob Misiorowski and Tarik Skubal, who could have wound up in Milwaukee had negotiations with the Detroit
Tigers gone differently earlier this summer.
While Misiorowski wasnβt at his sharpest β he threw 47 pitches in the first two innings β he was able to limit his damage while Skubal was not.
Brice Turang tied the game with a solo homer off Skubal in the fourth inning. The Brewers went ahead in the fifth after Skubal gave up a leadoff walk to Garrett Mitchell, who advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Cooper Pratt and scored on Laraβs single.
Skubal gave up two runs on five hits over five innings.
The Dodgers had a chance to break the game open early, when Shohei Ohtani drew a leadoff walk off Misiorowski in the second inning and Teoscar Hernandez followed with a single. After Misiorowski got Max Muncy swinging, Andy Pages hit an RBI single to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead.
Kyle Tucker then walked to load the bases. But Enrique Hernandez grounded into a double play to end the inning, and the Dodgers would have a runner in scoring position just three more times the rest of the game. Los Angeles didnβt have a hit after the sixth inning.
Brewers closer Trevor Megill made things interesting in the ninth, issuing back-to-back walks to Kyle Tucker and pinch-hitter Josue DePaula. But Mookie Betts flied out to right to end the game.
Dodgers vs Brewers Game 1 takeaways
The top of the second inning was a microcosm of Game 1 in its entirety: the Dodgers controlled the strike zone against Jacob Misiorowski, taking advantage of the NL Cy Young favoriteβs command issues that plagued him for much of his outing Sunday and ratcheting up his pitch count early. They got on the board first and loaded the bases with one out, but couldnβt fully capitalize as KikΓ© HernΓ‘ndez grounded into an inning-ending double play.
The Dodgers grounded into three double plays on Sunday, and thatβs not a fluke. They led the National League with 128 GIDP in the regular season, which coincides with their general struggles with runners in scoring position. That reared its head again in Game 1 as LA went 1-for-6 with RISP (now 2-for-22 this postseason) and stranded nine baserunners.
Against a Brewers pitching staff that rarely gives up a longball, the Dodgers are going to have to find ways to bring runners home. Thatβs exactly how the Brewers managed to win this one when Garrett Mitchell walked to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Cooper Pratt immediately moved him over to second on a sac bunt, and Luis Lara brought him home one pitch later on a sharp ground ball up the gap to take the lead.
Thatβs been Milwaukeeβs calling card all season, it was enough to get a win on an otherwise solid outing from Tarik Skubal and with how tightly matched these two pitching staffs are, itβs what makes them such a dangerous counterpart for the Dodgers.

12:16 AM ET, October 12 2026Did A-Rod really play with Brice Turang's dad?
11:34 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jim ReinekingDuring the MLB on FOX postgame show, the panel interviewed Brewers second baseman Brice Turang, whose fourth-inning home run got the Brewers on the board in Game 1.
FOX Sports analyst Alex Rodriguez mentioned to Turang how he played with his father, Brian Turang, while with the Seattle Mariners.
Brian Turang played two major league seasons β 1993-94, both with the Mariners. When Rodriguez made his major-league debut on July 8, 1994, Brian Turang hit leadoff for Seattle, playing in left field. Neither player got a hit in that game, going a combined 0-for-7 in a 4-3 Mariners loss to the Boston Red Sox.

Who is 'Front Row Amy'?
07:53 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jesse YomtovAmy Williams spent her birthday where she has several times before, at her home away from home: the Milwaukee Brewers' ballpark.
You probably know her best as "Front Row Amy" β the scorekeeping, pitch-appreciating, fervent fan β a longtime fixture behind home plate. These days, she said, she likes to keep a lower profile.
In that birthday game Oct. 4 β Game 2 of the National League Division Series β Jackson Chourio, facing the last strike of the game, blew out the candles with a walk-off single that scored two. It'll go down as one of the greatest moments in Brewers postseason history.
"That was amazing. I kind of forgot it was my birthday because I was so focused on the game," the newly 58-year-old told the Journal Sentinel. "And, that game β I've never felt like that. That was crazy."

Dodgers president on Brewers organization
07:50 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jesse Yomtov"I think the success they've had over the last handful of years, the deepness of their roster really stands out. It's hard over 162 to do what they've done, and then it's also hard to get to October, it's hard to have success in October," Dodgers president Andrew Friedman told reporters before Game 1.
"I think from what Matt does, what Murph does, how well they work together, I think they continue to put themselves in really strong positions. I think there's really not a glaring weakness. So 1 through 26, they can beat you in a lot of different ways. Those are the kind of things that I feel like you need in October.
"If you're just reliant on hitting a homer, tough way to live life. They just have so many different ways to do it. So I think it speaks to Matt and his team's ability to construct the roster and then how well they work together with Murph to bring the most out of these guys."

Game 2 starter Logan Henderson on facing Dodgers
05:40 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jesse Yomtov"Ultimately it comes down to execution. Those two games I was executing well and attacked the game plan the way we needed to, and that's the same mindset going into this outing," Miilwaukee's Game 2 starter Logan Henderson told reporters before the opener
"There's definitely some familiarity there on both sides. So go back, watch those outings, and see what we had success with and come up with a game plan for them."
Tarik Skubal on what Brewers do best
05:00 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jesse Yomtov"It's a very talented roster. I think they do a lot of things really well. They pitch. They play defense. They run the bases. They hit, hit with runners in scoring position. Control the zone really well. Walk percentage is up there at the top of the Big Leagues, I think, 1 through 9. And they don't strike out a lot. That's a challenge in itself," Skubal told reporters a day before Game 1.
"It's a really good baseball team. They play the game the right way. I've got a lot of respect for the guys over there. And obviously the manager, Murph, I'm a big fan of his."
'No secrets' in Brewers-Dodgers rematch
03:41 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jesse Yomtov"I really don't think there's anything we can use from last year to this year," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters a day before Game 1.
"They're a really good ball club. Similar guys that we're used to seeing, very similar to what we're used to seeing. There's going to be no secrets. They play a very good brand of baseball. Our guys have been in environments on the postseason on the road. So we know what it's going to be like."
Milwaukee hotel haunted?
02:37 PM ET, October 11 2026, Jesse YomtovMILWAUKEE β The Pfister Hotel is one of Milwaukee's signature spots for out-of-towners, if not the No. 1 landing spot. Most Major League Baseball teams in town to play the Milwaukee Brewers take up temporary residence at the downtown hotel, though sometimes, they're not alone.
The hotel has become famous for freaking out a number of MLB players with its eerie incidents. Numerous players have confessed they don't sleep well in the hotel, which opened in 1893.
Mookie Betts, who has famously rented an Airbnb when the Los Angeles Dodgers play in Milwaukee, is among those who will presumably seek alternate accommodations with the Dodgers in town for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy, meanwhile? He ain't afraid of no ghost.
"If there's a ghost in there, come on in," Muncy said Oct. 10, one day before the start of the NLCS. "If the TV turns on, I know he's friendly. Hopefully he's just not there to disturb me. I welcome them. If there's a ghost, let's have a good time with it, come on in. It is what it is."
