It was only a matter of time.
After roughly 10 months of filming, the new four-part Beatles biopic finally reached Abbey Road.
On Aug. 16, a behind-the-scenes clip went viral of actors Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Harris Dickinson, and Joseph Quinn recreating the band's iconic 1969 album cover for "Abbey Road" in London. The leading men were outfitted with head-turning wigs and conspicuous facial hair, as well as spot-on replicas of the group's Tommy Nutter suits and denim ensembles.
Directed by Sam Mendes ("Skyfall"), "The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event" is expected in theaters in April 2028. The ambitious project will tackle the story of the Fab Four, with one movie focused on each bandmate: Mescal as Paul McCartney, Keoghan as Ringo Starr,
Dickinson as John Lennon, and Quinn as George Harrison.
Other stars rounding out the cast include four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, "Shōgun" star Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono and "The White Lotus" breakout Aimee Lee Wood as Pattie Boyd, Harrison's wife.

It is unclear yet whether all four movies will be released in one weekend or staggered out weekly in April 2028.
Speaking at CinemaCon in 2025, Mendes called the quadrilogy "the first binge-able theatrical experience. … Seeing all four films in proximity tells the story in a unique way."

The Beatles released 13 studio albums across roughly eight years together. "Abbey Road," their penultimate album, included beloved songs such as "Come Together," "Octopus's Garden," "Here Comes the Sun," "Something" and "Because."
The four-part biopic was first announced in February 2024, with McCartney, Starr and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison all signing off on the project through the band's Apple Corps. Ltd.
The Beatles and Hollywood go way back, appearing in five movies themselves between 1964 and 1970, including "A Hard Day's Night" and the animated "Yellow Submarine." There have been a few attempts at the biopic treatment, from the 1994 indie drama "Backbeat" – which centered on Lennon's relationship with Stuart Sutcliffe before the Beatles were superstars – to 2009's "Nowhere Boy" with Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a teenage Lennon.
Mescal and Keoghan are best known for their Oscar-nominated turns in "Aftersun" and "The Banshees of Inisherin," respectively. Harrison previously starred with Nicole Kidman in 2024's "Babygirl," while Quinn played Eddie Munson in Netflix series "Stranger Things."
