Paris Hilton is responding to criticism of her family's "Beauty and the Beast" costumes.
The reality star and DJ, 45, says her daughter got exactly the Halloween costume she wanted after some social media users questioned why she dressed as Belle while her daughter appeared as a teacup.
In family photos shared on Instagram Oct. 26, Hilton posed in a gold ballgown with matching gloves and a brunette wig. Her husband, Carter Reum, wore a Beast costume, complete with a furry mask and blue jacket.
Their children rounded out the Disney movie cast: Phoenix, 3, dressed as Lumière, the enchanted candelabra, while London, 2, wore a colorful dress depicting Chip, the young teacup.
"My
life is a fairytale, and the magic never ends," Hilton captioned the pictures.
Some commenters argued that the children should have been the stars of the family costume theme.

"Why not let your daughter be Belle? Attention has to be on her! Poor little girl," @jjja0313 wrote.
Another user @yamiloywuwu wrote, "cute but maybe the kids should have been Belle and beast and the adults the side dish. I mean it is a kids holiday…"
Paris Hilton says London chose to dress as Chip
Hilton addressed the criticism in the comment section of an Instagram post dissecting the family costume, explaining that "Beauty and the Beast" is among her children's favorite movies.
"London said she wanted to dress up as Chip," Hilton wrote. "She said it was her favorite character in the movie."
Other commenters supported the family's choices, praising the children's costumes and called it "appropriate."
"I hate when people dress up the daughter as the princess and the husband as the prince and then the mom is some weirdo side character," wrote Instagram user @howiethealleycat. "This is appropriate."

Hilton also shared a behind-the-scenes Instagram post, with onscreen text reading, "The reality of a #Halloween shoot with two toddlers."
The elaborate Halloween look follows another recent fashion moment for Hilton. In September, she closed The Blonds' 20th anniversary show at New York Fashion Week, wearing a crystal-covered black-and-silver bodysuit over a sheer catsuit. Her younger sister, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, watched from the front row.
