The Minnesota Vikings' long sought sense of quarterback normalcy might not be far off.
Starting quarterback Kyler Murray has been cleared from the concussion protocol and is set to start the Week 3 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, coach Kevin O'Connell announced on Monday, Sept. 21.
Murray was knocked out of the season-opening win against the Green Bay Packers on the third series of the game. After scrambling to his right, the signal-caller took a big hit from Packers safety Javon Bullard and edge rusher Lukas Van Ness.
He was replaced in the game by backup Carson Wentz, who went on to start the Week 2 victory over the Chicago Bears.
In Sunday's rain-soaked divisional matchup, however, Minnesota was held without a touchdown. Wentz completed
11 of 20 passes for just 143 yards.
Murray, who signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Vikings this offseason after being released by the Arizona Cardinals in March, was named Minnesota's starting quarterback in August following a brief competition with incumbent first-stringer J.J. McCarthy. Wentz was installed as the backup while McCarthy was relegated to an emergency role.
