The price of a professional sports team reaches to the heavens.
With the announcement that Stan Kroenke is purchasing the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno for $4 billion, there is a shake-up in the list of most expensive professional sports team sales.
The MLB team is the latest addition to Kroenke'sKroenke Sports & Entertainment empire. The Walmart heir also owns the NFL's Los Angeles Ram
s, NBA's Denver Nuggets, NHL's Colorado Avalanche, MLS' Colorado Rapids and Premier League's Arsenal.The sale makes the Angels the most expensive franchise in MLB history. The San Diego Padres also switched ownership this year when Jose E. Feliciano Kwanza Jones purchased the club for $3.9 billion in April.

Francisco 49ers minority owner Vinod Khosla added to his NFL portfolio. He bought the Seattle Seahawks for $9.6 billion, making it the most expensive franchise in the league.
The title of most expensive sports franchise in North America still belongs to a different team in the City of Angels, the Los Angeles Lakers, who have been sold twice in two years. Last summer, the team was purchased by Mark Walter from the Buss family for $10 billion, making it the highest sale for a North American sports team in history. Earlier this month, former Disney CEO Bob Iger and venture capitalist Josh Kushner bought the Lakers, upping the ante to $12 billion.
