Florida A&M footballcoach Quinn Gray has issued an apology to SWAC TV sideline reporter Symone Stanley following an awkward postgame interaction after the Rattlers' victory over Alabama State on Friday.
In a video that quickly circulated on social media, Gray was seen pulling Florida A&M quarterback Armond Parker
away from a postgame interview while Stanley was in the middle of asking Parker a question."Want to take a moment and apologize to Ms. Symone Stanley of SWAC TV for the abrupt ending to her interview of our QB Armond Parker," Gray wrote in a statement on Facebook. "There was a situation happening on the field and tempers were flaring and I needed everyone to get to the locker room so there wasn't another story that would have needed to be
explained."
Florida A&M secured its second win of the season in dramatic fashion Friday afternoon when the Rattlers blocked a potential game-winning field goal by Alabama State in the final seconds.
Parker completed 13-of-20 passes for three touchdowns and 290 yards in the win, while finishing with two interceptions. His 89-yard throw to Armand Burris with 6:03 remaining in the fourth quarter proved to be the eventual go-ahead, game-winning touchdown for Florida A&M.
The Florida A&M-Alabama State SWAC matchup was moved from Saturday to Friday in Montgomery, Alabama, because of forecasts related to Hurricane Isaias, which is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast late Friday into early Saturday near the Florida-Alabama border.
