Ethan Mbappé was shown a red card in Lille's Champions League match against Real Betis on Tuesday, as the teenager was caught elbowing Brazilian defender Natan in the face.
It was a great start to the match for Mbappé, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé.
The Lille midfielder assisted Ayase Ueda for Lille's opener, with the Japan international giving the Ligue 1 side the lead. But Betis struck back, as a Marc Bartra double and a goal from Troy Parrott offset an Alexsandro goal for Lille to make it 3-2 early in the second half.
Just three minutes after Parrott's goal, Mbappé put his side in a world of trouble. With the play on the other side of the field, Natan walked past Mbappé, who delivered a sharp elbow right to the defender's
face.
After a VAR review, referee Georgi Kabakov had no choice but to send Mbappé off.
Per Opta, Mbappé (19 years, 253 days) is the youngest player to be sent off in the Champions League for a French club.
