Joanna Gaines has a correction for anyone who heard a baby announcement from her husband.
The "Fixer Upper" star, 48, said on the Nov. 5 episode of "Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce" that Chip Gaines wants another child and has been telling people she is pregnant.
Chip Gaines' interest marks a reversal from their conversations after welcoming their youngest son, Crew, she said. Back then, Joanna Gaines was the one hoping for a bigger family.
"When I had Crew at 40, I said, 'Chip, I want him to have more siblings,'" she recalled. "I really thought I'd have nine children." However, he was "not open to it" at the time, she said.
"Guess who's open to it now at 48?" she said, referring
to her own age. "He's telling everybody I'm pregnant and just for the record, I'm not."
According to Joanna Gaines, he has shared the claim with their grown children, drawing a blunt response from one of their daughters.
"He told our grown kids, 'Mom is pregnant,'" she recalled. "My daughter said, 'I'm not coming home if this is true.'"
His parents have heard it, too. Joanna Gaines described a visit to a football game when Chip Gaines encouraged her to tell his mother and father the supposed news.
She said the joke also reached an audience of 2,000 at a speaking engagement the previous week.
"So that whole audience thinks I'm pregnant," she said. "I don't know what's happened, but I'm not."
Joanna Gaines described her husband as "trying to speak it out into the universe."
The couple have five children: sons Drake, 21, Duke, 18, and Crew, 8, and daughters Ella, 19, and Emmie, 16.
In June, Joanna Gaines paid tribute to her husband on Instagram for Father's Day with a video of the family when their four oldest children were young. The footage showed the couple in a car as their children played in the back seat.
"This was back when we had four car seats in the car and our four kiddos were 4 years old and under," she wrote. "People thought we were crazy, but you always, always made being a father look easy. Thank you for loving our five children so dang well. We love you."
