The most impactful injury for fantasy football managers in Week 8 was Lamar Jackson's broken thumb.
As the second or third quarterback off the board on draft day, Jackson's extended absence is a cruel blow all around. Losing backup Tyler Huntley to a season-ending foot injury even foiled those fantasy teams who thought they had the position covered.
With those losses now sunk costs, we turn our attention to some of the most prominent players' ongoing injury issues that will impact fantasy managers most in Week 9. As always, keep an eye on the latest developments leading up to kickoff with our player notes page.

WEEK 9 RANKINGS: QB | RB | WR | TE | K | DST | FLEX
WR Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
The Jets' top wideout has entered the concussion protocol
after taking a hit to the head late in Sunday's game against the Raiders. He has a tough hill to climb to be able to play this week. That makes Adonai Mitchell, who caught seven passes for a career-best 142 yards in Week 8, an even stronger waiver-wire pickup. Omar Cooper Jr. should also see an uptick in targets this week at Kansas City.
RB Breece Hall, New York Jets
And then there's Hall, who is expected to go through another limited practice on Wednesday as he attempts to return from a nagging quadriceps injury. Hall was limited all of last week, but ended up being inactive on Sunday as Braelon Allen rushed for a career-high 147 yards. At this point, it's hard to tell which is more likely: Hall suiting up against the Chiefs or wearing a different uniform at the trade deadline.
RB Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars
In somewhat of a surprise, Tuten was listed as a non-participant on the Jaguars' practice reports for Monday and Tuesday with foot and ankle injuries. Coach Liam Cohen told reporters Tuten was feeling better on Wednesday, but he could be a game-time decision with the Jags playing in the Thursday night game. Backup Chris Rodriguez (hand) was also limited on Tuesday, making LeQuint Allen a possible sleeper for touches against the Ravens.
QB Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns
Watson took a helmet-to-helmet hit in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Steelers, but was cleared to return to the game. The team said he displayed no concussion symptoms after the game or on Monday, but began to feel the effects on Tuesday. He has been put in the concussion protocol, making Shedeur Sanders the potential starter when the Browns travel to New Orleans on Sunday.
WR Jordyn Tyson, New Orleans Saints
For those fantasy managers who've been waiting patiently for Tyson to return to the practice field, your moment is about to arrive. Tyson is scheduled to take part in drills on Wednesday for the first time since he injured his hamstring during training camp. The No. 8 overall pick in this year's draft will have 21 days before he must be activated, so the Saints could take things slowly. However, once he's activated, he'll immediately push Devaughn Vele for the No. 2 receiver spot.
