In just a few days, Wisconsin football will play under the lights of Lambeau Field against No. 5 Notre Dame to kick off the 2026 college football season.
As it turns out, that won't be the last time the Badgers will take center stage at the iconic home of the Green Bay Packers during the 2026-27 academic year — though their return trip will come on the ice rather than the gridiron.
It was announced on Wednesday, Sept. 2 thatWisconsin men's and women's hockeywill host Michigan and Ohio State, respectively, in the Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff on Saturday, February 20, 2027, marking the first outdoor hockey game will played at the home of the Green Bay Packers since 2006.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our student-athletes and the Wisconsin hockey programs," Wisconsin athletic director Shawn Eichorst said in a statement. "The chance to showcase our brand of hockey at one of the most revered venues in sports, Lambeau Field, is a unique privilege and it will create an unforgettable experience for the University, alumni and all Badger fans."
Pre-sale tickets for the Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff will be available on Wednesday, September 9, according to the press release, while general on-sale tickets will be available on Friday, September 11. There were no puck drop times or TV channel information announced for the game in the released outside of the women's game will be Game 1 of the doubleheader, followed by the men's afterwards.
"We are proud to welcome college hockey back to Lambeau Field for the first time in more than 20 years," Packers president and CEO Ed Policy said in a statement. "With three storied programs and two highly anticipated matchups, this doubleheader will give fans a rare opportunity to experience hockey at historic Lambeau Field and bring an exciting winter event to Green Bay."

On the ice, both matchups are expected to be highly entertaining and marquee ones, with all four programs being consistent national championship contender in their respective sports.
Wisconsin men's hockey is coming off a national runner-up finish this past season and returns Ottawa Senators 2025 first-round pick Logan Hensler to its defensive line. The Badgers and Wolverines split their Big Ten regular-season series 2-2 last season. Michigan will be headlined by projected No. 1 overall pick for the 2027 NHL Draft in Landon DuPont.
Wisconsin and Ohio State have built quite the rivalry on the women's side, as both programs have combined to win the last seven NCAA championships and have met in each of the last four national championship games, with the Badgers taking their third this past season with a 3-2 win over the Buckeyes.
The Travel Wisconsin Frozen Tundra Faceoff will be the second time in a matter of seasons that Wisconsin and Ohio State will face each other outdoors, with both women's hockey programs last meeting outside at Wrigley Field in 2025, where they eventually tied 3-3.

"The opportunity to showcase premier women’s college hockey on such an iconic stage is truly monumental for both programs."
