Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will not be moved prior to the NFL's Nov. 10 trade deadline, according to NFL Network.
With the Eagles near the bottom of the NFC East at 2-5 and quarterback Jalen Hurts out with blood clots
for the foreseeable future, Philadelphia has been a team with plenty of assets that could move players for draft compensation. The team already traded center/left guard Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2028 second-round pick. The Eagles also have had to confront the loss of right tackle Lane Johnson, who retired after the season started. But the Eagles are telling teams, according to the NFL Network report, that they are not considering moving Barkley because they see a path to contending in 2027. Barkley has
two years and roughly $35 million remaining on his contract.
Barkley has nursed a hamstring injury that evolved into a back ailment that hampered him during the Eagles' loss Oct. 26 on "Monday Night Football." He played only nine snaps but racked up 71 total yards and scored a touchdown.
After returning to practice in a limited fashion Friday, the 29-year-old does not carry an injury designation into another prime-time matchup, as the Eagles face the Washington Commanders on "Sunday Night Football" on Nov. 1.
"There's one day I'm not going to be playing football. Whenever that is, I don't want to look back and be like, 'I could have given it a chance and I didn't,'" Barkley said, via ESPN. "It's kind of what I live by. I'm going to try my best to just keep recovering, being smart, but I like playing football, so if I have an opportunity to play, I'm going to try my best to play."
And for now, that appears it will be in Philadelphia.
