The NFL has ended any doubt about Puka Nacua’s availability for the Los Angeles Rams’ season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, Sept. 10 in Australia.
“Yes, he’s playing,’’ NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told USA TODAY Sports by email Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Nacua, the Rams star receiver, allegedly bit a woman on the shoulder on New Year’s Eve. The matter is being handled by Los Angeles City Attorney’s office and has been under review of the league’s personal conduct policy.
“The matter remains under review,’’ McCarthy said. When asked how long it could remain under review, McCarthy said, "There's no defined timeline."
The woman who said Nacua bit her also said he made an unprovoked antisemitic remark during a group dinner in Los Angeles
on New Year's Eve, according to a civil lawsuit she filed against him.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney has told USA TODAY Sports, “The matter is currently on track to be resolved through pre-filing diversion."
That would allow Nacua to avoid prosecution, but the case will remain open until the statute of limitations runs out Dec. 31, 2026, according to the spokesperson.
Nacua, 25, is one of the Rams most dynamic players. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2023 and in 2025. Last season, he also led the league in receptions.
