The Kennedy Center board is facing a major decision Tuesday as it prepares to consider a possible closureof the performing arts center.
The board is scheduled to meet at 12:30 p.m., with the meeting now focused exclusively on the “necessary closure of the Center.”
That puts the spotlight on the people who make up the board of directors, who have a say in what happens next.
So who is on the board? Here's what to know.
Kennedy Center board members
The Kennedy Center is overseen by a Board of Trustees. President Donald Trump serves as the board's chairman, and the board was significantly reshaped after he took control of the center in 2025.
The Board of Trustees is comprised of Vice Chair Jennifer Fischer, Secretary Sergio Gor, Treasurer John Falconetti and General Counsel Elliot
Berke.
Trump removed many of the trustees appointed under previous presidents and replaced them with his own selections. The current board includes a mix of political figures, business executives, entertainers and other Trump allies.
Among the most recognizable names are White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, former Attorney General Pamela Bondi, Education Secretary Linda McMahon, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, former Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, country singer Lee Greenwood and Italian businessman Paolo Zampolli.
Other members include fashion designer Mary Helen Bowers, entrepreneur Allison Lutnick, businessman Douglas Manchester and philanthropist Catherine Reynolds and former Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao.
The Kennedy Center has more than 30 total board members.
Its members are meeting today to consider the center's future, including a proposal to close the main building amid financial and structural concerns.
