New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Oct. 11, according to ESPN.
Per ESPN, the injury will keep him sidelined for multiple weeks but will not require surgery.
Henderson did not finish the game after suffering the injury. He also missed the Patriots' season opener Sept. 9 against the Seattle Seahawks with a similar ankle injury he suffered two weeks prior during an 11-on-11 session of training camp.
Henderson's lone touchdown of the season came in his season debut, Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has 163 rushing yards on 42 carries through four games.
How long will TreVeyon Henderson be out?
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Monday Oct. 12 that Henderson's outlook
was uncertain.
"We'll evaluate here and see how it looks. He wasn't able to finish the game, and if we see that on Wednesday he's going to be limited, then we'll let you know he'll be limited."
Henderson appears to be worse than "limited" if he is already slated to miss multiple games. The Patriots host the New York Jets on Sunday Oct. 18 and then have a short week with a "Thursday Night Football" game on the road against the Chicago Bears Oct. 22.
Patriots running back depth chart
Rhamondre Stevenson will carry even more of a primary role in the backfield in Henderson's absence, with New England also expected to make a move to address its depth in the running-back room. Myles Montgomery, currently on injured reserve, is the lone other back on the roster.
- Rhamondre Stevenson
- TreVeyon Henderson (injured)
- Corey Kiner
- Myles Montgomery (injured)
