Who is the best in the U.S.?
Baseball fans find out on Saturday, Aug. 29 in the Little League World SeriesUnited States title game.
Ohio, representing the Great Lakes, takes on Nevada, hailing from the Mountain
region, to battle for a spot in the Little League World Series championship game.
West Side Little League from Hamilton, Ohio, dominated Iowa's Davenport Northwest Little League 7-1 to reach the U.S. title game. The matchup before that, they ousted superstar Kinley Rasmus and Alabama by a score of 11-2. Ohio's Boone Treadway has been walked 10 times in the tournament, which is tied for the Little League World Series record.
Paseo Verde Little League from Henderson, Nevada, also throttled Iowa 14-6 for its first loss of the tournament. Nevada got an extra day of rest while Iowa and Ohio played their elimination game. They have made it this far without a home run. Nevada's Carsynn Meyer is the only girl left in the tournament. She and Rasmus were the fourth pair of girls to play in the same Little League World Series. Meyer now makes history on her own by becoming the first girl to appear in the U.S. championship game.
The winner will play the international champion, which will also be decided on Saturday in a matchup between Curaçao and Japan. The Little League World Series championship game is on Sunday, Aug. 30.
